Is D.C.’s Music Scene Shutting Out Disabled Music Fans?

But all venues can take steps to do better by disabled showgoers. Independent promoter Sasha Lord, who books Comet Ping Pong, says getting the word out about local venues’ accessibility—or inaccessibility—is key. “Be proactive,” she says. “Every venue should assess their accessibility. Knowing your limitations should be the first thing.”

Happy and honored to be a part of this very important article by Tori Kerr for Bandwidth regarding the DC music scene’s accessibility — be sure to read it, and keep this discussion going!

Gap Dream cancel tour; Part Time hitting the road w/ Sea Lions instead

image

via Bill Pearis/Brooklyn Vegan:

San Francisco’s Part Time were all set to start their tour with Gap Dream when Gap Dream pulled out, citing “personal reasons.” Which is a bummer. However, Part Time will carry on with the tour, drafting Oxnard, CA’s charmingly shambolic Sea Lions to fill in the Gap. While I was personally looking forward to Gap Dream, this seems like a pretty good trade-off, especially for those on the indiepop side of the spectrum.

Catch Part Time and Sea Lions when they play Comet Ping Pong with DC’s Go Cozy on Tuesday, September 2nd!
